Avowed lets players start “nearly every” quest in different ways

Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed will let players start “nearly every” quest in multiple ways when the game hits shelves in February.

Speaking to GamesRadar, environment region designer Berto Ritger gave some insight and noted you can totally “play things out of order.” Basically, you can do what you please; pick up items to give them to people, kill a character, etc.

“I think almost every, if not every, quest in the game has it [sic] more than one way to start it, You can do things out of order and pick up items and give them to people that want them, or kill a character or whatever, like, you can play things out of order. You can come at a dungeon or vice versa, from a different direction than you normally would. And we want you to be able to do that just based on however you naturally progress through the world.”

Since the game’s not out yet, having been delayed into next year, we still haven’t seen how your choices affect the flow of the story or if they will matter in any meaningful way at all. We suspect it will, considering Obsidian’s history of solid RPGs and action RPGs under its belt.

Avowed releases February 18 to the Xbox Series X|S and PC.
