Super Mario Bros. Wonder takes top spot in Japanese sales chart

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is unsurprisingly still selling well over in Japan, with its weekly sales still going strong, clocking in 82,000 units last week. In the same breath, though, Pikmin 4 surpassed the million mark.

Famitsu (via GamingBolt) reports the Nintendo-developed sidescroller was briefly in second place, but it’s reclaimed its throne at the top fast. Konami’s board game video game — Momotaro Dentetsu World: Chikyuu wa Kibou de Mawatteru! — took second place, while Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince stole third.

Not to be outdone, though, three of the top five most-sold games are from Nintendo. Meanwhile, six of the top 10 games in Japan were developed by Nintendo.

The Switch itself is a hot sell in Japan, as well, with over 92,000 units sold, contrasting the over 44,000 units for the PS5 and the absolutely atrocious 2,500 units for the Xbox Series X|S.
