The Simpsons Movie sequel in the works

The Simpsons is heading to the big screen again after nearly two decades as 20th Century Studios confirms plans for a sequel.

As shared on social media (via Variety), but nothing really is concrete. It’s not clear if the film will continue the story following Burns’ failed attempt to section off Springfield in a large dome, how much of the film’s previously established bonding Flanders and Bart grew, or if it’ll be completely new.

We do know that the film is slated for mid-2027, so unfortunately this does put a wrinkle in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as there isn’t going to be a flick between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. But, perhaps that gap between films will alleviate the MCU fatigue some people suffer from.

The Simpsons Movie 2 will hit theaters on July 23, 2027.
