Idris Elba to star in new live action Masters of the Universe film

Fans might be ecstatic to have Idris Elba voice Knuckles in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series, but now prepare to witness him in another beloved franchise.

Based on The Hollywood Reporter, Idris Elba is reported to star in the 2026 live-action film adaptation of Masters of the Universe. It’s stated that the 52-year-old actor will play Duncan, also dubbed as Man-at-Arms.

Flickering Myth describes Man-at-Arms as an important character in the franchise. A close ally and a friend of He-Man, Duncan is also the royal mechanic, weapons specialist, and general of the royal army of Eternia. He also has an adopted daughter named Teela and both are members of the team revolving around Prince Adam.

Alongside Elba are actors Nicholas Galitzine as He-man, Camila Mendes as Teela, and Alison Brie as Evil Lyn. The film based on the popular Mattel toy line will be directed by Bumblebee director Travis Knight.

The Masters of the Universe will play in theaters on June 5, 2026.
