Animated Spider-Punk movie in the works

Sony Pictures Animation is supposedly working on a spin-off to its well-regarded Spider-Verse line of films, focusing on Spider-Punk, which first debuted in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Deadline reports it will be co-written by Daniel Kaluuya and Ajon Singh, with the former likely to return to the recording booth as the voice of the punk-coded webslinger. Amy Pascal is also planned to join Christopher Miller and Phil Lord in the producers side of things. Of course, there’s no details about the film’s story.

Spider-Punk is a more anarchist-like webslinger who’s dedicated to take down corrupt systems, turning into Spider-Man after being bitten by a radioactive spider thanks to illegal waste dumping. It’s a far cry the standard Spidey origin, but it will be interesting to see how it handles things with this character.
