A Minecraft Movie becomes among Jason Momoa’s most successful films

Best-known for his DC role as Aquaman, Hollywood heartthrob, Jason Momoa, played a lead role in A Minecraft Movie, which has solidified itself as among the actor’s most successful films. It even beat out Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

As pointed out by Collider, the film manages to break into the top five of Momoa’s highest-grossing catalog. The game adaptation beat out the original Sonic the Hedgehog film and the Blue Blur’s two sequel films, with the film managing to surpass the OG Sonic film in a mere weekend. In the end, the only adaptation that stands in its way of becoming the highest-grossing video game adaptation is the Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Now, though, we have to look to the future as Momoa has quite the laundry list of films with his name attached in the pipeline. He’ll be taking the role of Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, returning as Dante Reyes in Fast X: Part 2, appearing in Dune: Messiah as Duncan Idaho, playing in the animated series Animal Friends, alongside Ryan Reynolds and Aubrey Plaza, and more.

In our A Minecraft Movie review, we said: “A Minecraft Movie probably does about as well as you can given what it has to work with. Combine that with solid performances, a strong commitment to its source material and decent humor, and A Minecraft Movie ends up as a solid but unremarkable movie.”
