Warner Bros. is working on a new live service game

Despite the failure of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which got its final update back in January, Warner Bros. is working on a new live service game. Moreover, it’ll be once again tied a Warner Bros. and DC Comics IP.

WB’s seeking an executive producer (via Eurogamer) with “deep understanding of the full game development lifecycle, including live services.” It’s kind of wild that it’s chasing that high of live service with how bad Suicide Squad not just hit its bottom line, even leading it to address that it bombed. We also have MultiVersus, which failed to capture an audience in time.

Now, last year, WB did confirm it was pushing forward with live services, but you’d think it would cut its losses and see how a quarter without any live service game would fare. Beyond live service, though, we had Gotham Knights, which also fumbled for the studio.

In our Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League review, we said: “Overall, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League featured some of the best third-person shooting gameplay in recent years. But paired with a lackluster story and draining live service elements, it failed to hit any of the marks expected by such a high-profile IP and developer.”
