The Day Before player count tanks

Troubled development doesn’t even begin to explain away The Day Before’s five-year dev cycle. This hotly anticipated release has already lost a lot of steam in only a week.

As caught by PCGamesN, and verified by Smash Jump, data shows that the Singaporean developer’s latest release has already lost 75% of its player base in only a few days. It was bound to happen, but considering the wildly negative reception it’s faced for a laundry list of sins, it’s that much sweeter.

Outside of the crowded servers, the game simply doesn’t deliver what it promised; its graphics are vastly different from those that it advertised in early trailers, its world is soulless, and accusations of asset-flipping are rampant. Combine that with the shoddy business practices it has, like enlisting volunteer game developers to work on what would end up being a $40 Early Access title.

While ideas are being thrown out there, it’s gonna take a real miracle for Fntastic to regain the lost trust it had within its community. Gamers — like anyone else — don’t like getting scammed, and as it stands right now, The Day Before is a great example of “buyer beware.”
