Valve has something to be proud of as Steam breaks through a new concurrent user milestone. Not all the users were in-game — many were probably sifting through their just purchased titles, some were probably watching some streams, while others might just have it open in the background.
Spotted by Morwull on Twitter (via GamingBolt), this milestone marks the highest all-time peak of concurrent users on the platform of 33.6 million concurrent users. Considering some are probably still running on the high of the Steam Winter Sale, this surge in user count shouldn’t be all that shocking, and with how prominent Steam actually is to the PC gaming landscape, it just serves as another reassurance that it’ll probably remain a superpower for the foreseeable future.
Its previous peak was last year around this same time, so we can’t help but wonder if we’ll see another surge next year that will surpass another milestone. In similar news, it was also noted that over 14,000 games were released to Steam across the entirety of 2023, so of course there’s something for everyone.
Steam just reached a new top CCU peak for the platform with 33,675,229 connected users (previous CCU peak was 33,598,520 users)
