Start a farm in Eastward: Octopia next month

Pixpil is treating fans to a rather off-the-wall DLC for its adventure RPG, Eastward, next year, with Eastward: Octopia. Previously, the dev paid homage to Dragon Quest with its own little JRPG placed alongside the main story.

Publisher Chucklefish released a new trailer on YouTube for this new DLC, which was announced earlier this year during an indie game-focused event. The trailer shows us a little about what to expect. All in all, this appears to pay homage to games like Stardew Valley — or more likely, Story of Seasons — while also giving a nudge to Nintendo’s Animal Crossing, too.

In this parallel universe, John and Sam spend all their money on a new beaten-up cottage and take up farming as their passion. All the while taking time to get to know the neighboring folks, tending to crops and livestock, and giving their little cottage some much-needed TLC.

We can all take on this new story-driven farming sim challenge when it launches on January 31, 2024.
