Stardew Valley 1.6 update will be “larger in scope” than originally planned

Stardew Valley developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone’s next major update is planned to be “larger in scope” than he previously planned for. The update has been public knowledge since September 2023, with the broad goal of increasing content, including a larger-scale multiplayer experience for PC players, and 100 new lines of dialogue throughout the landscape.

On Twitter, Barone expressed how he’s finished with implementing the content and is moving into the bug fixing and polishing phases. He also clarified that this update will be playable with old saves. He does recommend playing on new saves, however, as it will work best if you want the full picture of the new content, as a bunch of stuff will unlock if you use old saves.

Further down, too, he responded to a fan asking if it would be releasing this year, which he was confident it would. Considering the seven years of dedication Barone’s fed into Stardew Valley, we’re sure this new update will breath new life in the still very charming experience.
