Sega brings back Sonic and the Olympics with new licensed collaboration

Sega recently announced that Sonic is going gold by forming a partnership with the Olympics. The International Olympic Committee has renewed the license for its upcoming project, the “Five Rings.”

Sega’s post has revealed the new artwork for the game, which includes Sonic and a few of his closest companions with Olympic rings.  This opportunity also lets fans immerse themselves in the revived franchise through new merchandise and other content. The work of the collaboration is set to launch in 2026. Both Sega and IOC are very positive about the partnership, including the president of Sega, Shuji Utsumi.

“This collaboration highlights the International Olympic Committee’s commitment to showcasing excellence, unity and perseverance on the global stage, values that Sonic embodies through speed, determination and resilience. It brings together uniquely crafted designs that combine the iconic Olympic rings and Sonic, and we are thrilled to share this exciting initiative with fans worldwide.”
