Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown demo available next month

The long-awaited revival of the Prince of Persia franchise is upon us, with a demo of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown arriving in mid-January. Unlike Ubisoft’s Sands of Time remake, this one is poised to follow a new story and have Metroidvania elements.

Its trailer was showcased during The Game Awards. Taking the role of Sargon, the player must embark on a quest to climb Mount Qaf in order to rescue the kidnapped prince. More powers will show up as the game goes on, with space and time manipulation at the forefront. If the newly released trailer didn’t get your attention, perhaps its free demo will.

Alongside the trailer, it was revealed that Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will receive a demo on January 11, which is about a week ahead of the game’s release to current and past-gen consoles. At least with the demo, fans can get a little feel for the Metroidvania-style game before taking the plunge and spending $50 on the title.

It’s certainly too early to say for sure how it will fare under a critical lens, but from footage seen, it looks like it will have stylized gameplay that will hopefully strike the right notes for fans of the genre and franchise.
