Playable TimeSplitters 4 prototype discovered following studio shutdown

A playable build of TimeSplitters 4 was uncovered on a PS3 Devkit installed system. With £525 down the drain, it seems like it’s a well worth investment for a piece of this canceled game history.

Reddit user Flimsy-Zebra3775 revealed (via Insider Gaming) they purchased this system and didn’t quite suspect the high-profile lost game. Users have since encouraged them to upload their findings onto an archive site to be better preserved or at the very least dump the files. They do plan on handing over the files to archive members of the TimeSplitters subreddit “as soon as possible.”

Currently, only screenshots exist, but we’re sure at some point video footage will surface.

Considering the most recent closure of Free Radical Design, after getting revived in 2021, it more or less dashed any possibility of a TimeSplitters 4. Whereas the likes of Saints Row lives on at Deep Silver (via PSX Extreme), there hasn’t been any acknowledgement of the same treatment for this gem.
