Nintendo teases new mysterious horror game, Emio

Nintendo has a full plate ahead of itself full of intriguing first-party releases, as shown by the Nintendo Direct earlier this year, but it seems it has one more thing up its sleeve.

Across its social media and YouTube, Nintendo has teased a mysterious new game, which has naturally been brandished as a horror game. Rated M, this new game is associated to the hashtag #WhoisEmio.

The trailer showcases what appears to be a masked man donning a paper bag with a smile drawn across it. It gives us very little to go off of, but the text at the end (according to GamingBolt) translates to “smiling man.”

This yet-to-be-properly-announced game has an official page on Nintendo’s website, to boot. It’s not clear when more info will come out about it, but it definitely raises eyebrows as Nintendo isn’t often the one promoting games rated for a Mature audience, so this leads us to expect the game, which we’ll dub Emio, is some first-party game.

Whatever this game turns out to be, which we kind of assume it’ll be tied to the internet myth of Smiling Man, it’ll definitely be a breath of fresh air compared to Nintendo’s normal kid-friendly offerings.
