Nintendo provides major fixes in the latest update patch for Mario Kart World

Mario Kart World launched day one with the Nintendo Switch 2 with some positive praise. There were a few issues from the majority of players, like the unappealing intermission tracks and character unlock methods. Nintendo has recently released a new update to fix the most prominent issues, including adding new features.

Update patch 1.4.0 introduces Item Switch as a brand-new feature for Vs mode and Battle. It provides more control over which items appear during online races, giving greater customization for casual matches like mushroom or blue shell only. It’s even possible to do Kamek only to force racers to shapeshift into many characters during standard or knockout tour races.

The biggest change from update patch 1.4.0 is the new course routes. Several intermission tracks are redesigned for less straightforward pathways in VS mode and Online mode. Nintendo changed the following intermission tracks between:

  • Nokonoko Beach to DK Space Center
  •  Nokonoko Beach to Trophy City
  •  Nokonoko Beach to Peach Stadium
  • Shupopo Coaster to Nokonoko Beach
  • Sansan Desert to Nokonoko Beach
  •  DK Space Center to Nokonoko Beach
  • Trophy City to Nokonoko Beach
  • Peach Stadium to Nokonoko Beach

The patch also provides several other bugfixes and improvements like background music display and online settings for friends and groups. Players can finally recognize different background music with the pause menu and switch settings for a more desired online play. The changes even affected gameplay mechanics like shortened respawn timers for coins above water and dash food.

My Nintendo and Nintendo stores in Japan are still selling Mario Kart World Merchandise. Its selection will continue to grow during December with Mario Kart World Chara Magnets and plush toys. More support and details may continue for Mario Kart World in the future.
