Nintendo acquires Bandai Namco as a brand new Nintendo studio

Nintendo has previously planned to strengthen its development structure for the upcoming new generation. The company will grow by acquiring Bandai Namco Studios Singapore, renaming the studio as Nintendo Studios Singapore. The new partner previously helped develop several games like Soul Calibur 6, Taiko no Tatsujin VR Festival, Ace Combat 7 Skies Unknown, and Splatoon 3.

The acquisition will proceed with Nintendo acquiring 80% of Bandai Namco Studios Singapore’s shares on April 1, 2026, before acquiring the remaining shares later within the deal’s completion. The newly acquired studio will continue working on game development under CEO Makoto Ishii and Nintendo’s new title.
