New Yooka-Replaylee and Yooka-Laylee comparison video shows up

A video has surfaced giving fans a look at what to expect with Yooka-Replaylee, the remaster of Playtonic’s platformer, Yooka-Laylee. The lizard-bat duo’s remaster features an art and animation overhaul among other features to the 2017 platformer.

Shared by Pure Xbox on YouTube, the video shows a side-by-side comparison of the game’s second world, Glitterglaze Glacier. The game itself looks a lot more vibrant based on the footage.

One of the things people may notice that we assume is more tied to it being an earlier build of the game that the Pure Xbox team played, is it seems to have a bit of lag when it hitting enemies from time to time, but we suspect that will be stamped out by the game’s release, if not already dealt with.

Beyond the improved resolution Playtonic will also introduce new challenges, better camera controls, a new world map, move set modifications and more. At this time, the game still lacks a proper release date, but we suspect considering the game is in a playable state, it will likely be something of a December release like its Nintendo Switch launch if expedited. Alternatively, it could be a middle of 2025 release, perhaps in April, which would be the same month the game launched to its original core platforms.

Regardless of the plan, it still a bit of polish to make it properly there, but we’re sure Playtonic’s got this.
