New PS5 Pro specs don’t spell a 60fps GTA 6

The leaked specs of the PS5 Pro were shared earlier this month, but tech experts aren’t convinced the console refresh will run Grand Theft Auto 6, which is due out next year, at 60fps like fans hope. It’s expected that it will at most maintain 30fps, which for some is all well and good.

During an episode of Digital Foundry’s DF Direct, Rich Leadbetter noted the CPU of the refresh is the same, meaning a core element that is usually replaced with these refreshes isn’t, so assuming the standard PS5 will run at 30fps on the standard console means it will most likely run at that same frame rate on the refresh system.

Unless Sony pulls off a miracle, it’s unlikely this refresh is going to make a substantial change in the CPU department, with 10% being thrown around, but it is anticipated to have better rendering.

This gen is due for a refresh, after all, while the PS5 Slim models could be considered a sort of refresh, it was more of a remodel as it all stayed mostly the same save for more storage on some units. That said, should a PS5 Pro exist, it’s expected to release sometime in November, marking four years since the console’s launch.
