MultiVersus social media posts something new, revival incoming

The revival of the short-lived Warner Bros. brawler, MultiVersus, might be on the horizon. The game briefly released before getting pulled from stores, promising to launch again sometime in 2024.

The brawler’s social media profile, as spotted by VGC, suddenly posted again for the first time since the hiatus mid-2023. Simply doing a random test tweet.

Play First Games had previously mentioned that the game’s servers would go back up and running sometime in early 2024, so it’s likely that its revival is either later this month or perhaps April. The game will no doubt drum up a lot of initial players just like it did during its open beta. We suspect, though, it will suffer the same fate unless the team has an expansive roadmap to keep people coming back for more.

By and large, MultiVersus is a Smash Bros. clone with Warner Bros. iconic mascots, so the idea sounds good on paper, and it did find a fair bit of success, raking in 153K players in its early days before falling hard to less than 500 Steam players. The game itself had charm, so we hope that in spite of the microtransactions this will be a live service game that will actually be good sourced from WB Games, especially since it plans on doubling down on the model.
