Marvel Rivals has recently expanded its player base with more platform releases, like the PlayStation 4. The team is aiming to continue supporting the game’s accessibility for more players, including those on the Nintendo Switch 2.
During the Game Developers Conference, IGN had a chance to interview Danny Koo, Marvel Games executive producer, about Marvel Rivals’ release on the Nintendo Switch 2. He states it’s currently in the works, waiting for the right moment to officially announce the port.
The Nintendo Switch 2 port seems to be more prioritized as the next Marvel Rivals’ release than for mobile or original Nintendo Switch versions. The interview also mentioned a possible mobile port, which the producer denied before describing it as a “different game.”
“Yeah, this one on the mobile game is not going to work; If we’re going to do a mobile, it’s going to be a whole different game. Because of the feedback, the touch. The controls are just so different.”
It seems Marvel Rivals would require more resources and a complete overhaul design to perfectly run on mobile devices, giving a more complicated experience for both mobile players and developers, especially with its touch controls. This issue seems to be similar to the Nintendo Switch, which also has weaker specs compared to its successor. The fanbase for Marvel Rivals may flourish with more players once the developers announce the next major gaming platform release.
