Man confesses to disrupting Nintendo events over losing in a game

A Japanese man has admitted to sending Nintendo dozens of threats over the course of four months last year. His threats were directly related to public Nintendo events being canceled.

As spotted by OatmealDome on Twitter, the 27-year-old man, Kenshin Kazama, admitted to the charges. He attempted to rationalize the 39 threats as these were sent while he was “stressed and irritated from losing in a game,” according to Kansai Television News (via Insider Gaming). The game in question was Splatoon 3 and one of his threats said he would “kill everyone involved” and that it should “be careful about events with spectators.”

Supposedly, this led to $4.3 million in damages. The attempted rationalization is, of course, being scoffed at, with it being called a “childish motive.” The trial is still happening and a final verdict will be revealed on July 24. Under no uncertain terms, we have a feeling the prosecutor will get the year-long sentence it’s aiming for at the least.
