Indie developer Galvanic Games shuts down

Indie game developer Galvanic Games has announced its closure after launching Wizard with a Gun published by Devolver Digital last year. The game’s sales were “promising,” but overall, didn’t sustain the studio as it would consider what to do next.

Announced on X, Galvanic’s founder and president, Patrick Morgan, discussed Wizard with a Gun’s promising sales before noting it wasn’t enough to keep the studio open. He mentions that while the studio attended and even had encouraging discussions at DICE and GDC, new projects aren’t just signed immediately, it can take years, years that it just doesn’t have.

The Morgan capped it all off with a link out to a post on LinkedIn that cataloged former staff seeking work… at least the ones who wanted to be part of the list.

Wizard with a Gun launched on October 17, 2023 on previous and current-gen consoles and PC. It garnered a strong reception with major outlets singing the praises of the roguelite twin-stick shooter. The Seattle-based developer even continued support of the game with free  updates, including one back in May that introduced 4-player co-op, additional endgame content, custom difficulty options, and more.
