FBC: Firebreak won’t have battle pass, timed events, or daily check-ins

Remedy Entertainment’s co-op live service shooter, FBC: Firebreak is sounding more and more like an ethical live service title. This will be the studio’s first-ever multiplayer game.

In an Xbox Wire report, it was confirmed that a bunch of commonplace live service features, such as battle passes, timed events, and daily check-ins, which are means to push players to return to the game over and over, will not include any of that. This was to ensure players want to play the game rather than feel forced to play the game.

Additionally, a lot of post-launch content is planned, with all of it being free. Remedy also has added “dozens” of perks to customize your character.

As for where it fits into the whole timeline of Remedy’s connected universe, FBC: Firebreak takes place six years after Control within The Oldest House, which is still under lockdown. You are a member of the namesake Firebreak; first responders that are sent to eliminate lingering threats with “cobbled-together” technology.

FBC: Firebreak has no concrete release date, but is expected to release in summer 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series as a “mid-priced” release.
