Fable 4 releases next year

Playground Games has earmarked next year as the release year of Fable 4, the next in the storied and respected Microsoft-backed RPG line of games. It’s available to wishlist on Xbox’s website.

The recent Xbox Games Showcase bestowed a fair bit, especially compared to Sony and even the Summer Game Fest, one such big reveal was more info, including a bit more on the story behind Fable 4. It appears Albion is in danger and the once great Humphrey must exit retirement and save the day. To add to it, the trailer also featured some gameplay shots, as well.

With the more establishing statements of who this heroine is, it’s led to some debate and hopes that players will be able to create their own hero even if it’s just like the old games where it’s just a simple gender option and apparel decisions. Others hope you’ll still be able to choose between good and evil, which we don’t think Playground would mess with, after all, that was a central point of the series. Just because you were a “hero” doesn’t mean you were a hero.

Considering the rocky state the series ended on, we really do hope that Playground will do Fable justice and make it a strong Xbox-backed IP like it was back in the early days.
