DOOM: The Dark Ages is id Software’s biggest launch in history

DOOM: The Dark Ages is doing wonders for id Software as the studio’s biggest launch in its storied history, hitting three million players in well under a month since its May 15 release.

Bethesda shared the news on Twitter, noting that it’s seven times faster to that three million number compared to 2020’s DOOM Eternal, which reached that count a month after release.

Of course, a huge contributing factor of this large player count is probably because of Game Pass, considering it comes nowhere near the same player count on Steam, only fostering 31.4K players compared to the whopping 104K players of Eternal. You can also note that it’s releasing on PlayStation 5, which also has a sizable fanbase for the game.
