Astro Bot wins big at The Smash Jump Awards

Team Asobi’s well-crafted platformer, Astro Bot, won big at this year’s The Smash Jump Awards, nabbing a trio of awards. This Japanese PlayStation-backed platformer may have a good bit of staying power as an IP.

During The Smash Jump Awards, Astro Bot won a total of three awards: Best Platformer, Best Family, and the coveted The Smashy award.

Among contenders for Best Platformer, Team Asobi’s game beat out Animal Well, Promenade, Tales of Kenzera: Zau, and The Plucky Squire. Contenders for Best Family included Little Kitty, Big City, Paper Trail, Super Mario Party Jamboree, and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Finally, our coveted The Smashy award, which earmarks the best game of the year included Animal Well, Black Myth: Wukong, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Metaphor: Refantazio, Promenade, and Unicorn Overlord.

In our review of Astro Bot, we said: “Astro Bot is nothing short of a delight. It takes everything that made that small tech demo a hit and builds on its best parts while improving on the shortcomings.”
