Acclaimed detective game The Case of the Golden Idol sequel is in the works

A sequel to the critically acclaimed detective puzzle game, The Case of the Golden Idol, is in the works at Color Gray Games. Dubbed The Rise of the Golden Idol, it’s going to follow a similar formula to last year’s mystery title.

As reported by VGC, the game will task you with uncovering the mysteries of 15 crimes in the 1970s. The game itself follows a tenacious relic hunter on the prowl for the relic that could “reshape the world.” Much like other games, its debut trailer was showcased during The Game Awards earlier this month.

Just like the previous critical darling, you can make up your own theories and investigate the way you see fit. What we wonder, though, is how it will make itself distinct enough from its precursor. A different story can only take you so far, after all.
