New Star Wars strategy game was unaffected by EA layoffs

Despite ongoing rumors, another one of the trio of Star Wars games spearheaded by Electronic Arts is still in the works. Meanwhile, its third game has reportedly been canned.

Amid the recent bout of layoffs that came with EA confirming it would be “moving away” from licensed IPs, Bit Reactor, which is working on a strategy game set in the Star Wars universe aided by Respawn Entertainment, revealed on Twitter that its game hasn’t been affected the layoffs and restructuring. It also used the time to label the past week as “difficult for the industry.”

When fans started questioning about a timeline, it just gave a vague but reasonable “when it’s ready” response. It’s worth pointing out that the game has had no details come out since its initial reveal in 2022. Frankly, it’s a bit shocking that EA is rather openly keeping its strategy Star Wars game while allegedly culling its Mandalorian-related FPS.
