Silent Hill: The Short Message is available now and free-to-play

Enter Silent Hill once again in a new free-to-play PS5 title, Silent Hill: The Short Message. This journey into Silent Hill is available now.

Thanks to PlayStation’s State of Play, we were able to get a taste of what this new Silent Hill is all about. Explore a crumbling apartment building, but beware of the dangers inside. Creatures of otherworldly nature are set to track down Anita as she must try to uncover what Maya sent her to find. Figure out the meaning behind the cryptic text message “can’t leave ’till you find it.”

This game looks to lean into current trends and feed off of the weight that social media can have on young adults. With bullying rampant, the notes scattered on the walls of this apartment building make the issues feel even more real.

Short Message is the first Silent Hill game since Book of Memories, which came out all the way back in 2012. There was also the ill-fated and beloved Silent Hills, which was canceled following Hideo Kojima’s exit from Konami.

With currently over 3,000 ratings on the PlayStation Store, Silent Hill: The Short Message is currently sitting at a 4.52 score, which is overwhelmingly positive.
