Wildlight Entertainment announced its free-to-play PvP shooter, Highguard, during The Game Awards and pretty much nothing following. The game has since released and it’s facing a problem — while it’s attracted nearly 98,000 players on Steam alone, it’s sitting at a Mostly Negative on the platform, but debuted to Overwhelmingly Negative.
SteamDB showcases its player count. User reviews note the game isn’t the most optimized, its audience isn’t as vast it could be, and the gunplay is just okay. Frankly, though, we doubt this will truly be the “next Concord” like many asserted it would be. Free-to-play games often end up with shoddy beginnings before turning things around to at least be decent.
Wildlight is committed to seeing this game flourish, so much so, it laid out an entire 12-month roadmap.
Highguard is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
