Square Enix is starting the celebration of Dragon Quest’s 40th anniversary by releasing Dragon Quest VII Reimagined on February 5, 2026. The company even delivered a message from the development team to its community, hoping to welcome both veterans and newcomers to the remade journey of Dragon Quest VII.
The developer recently released an opening movie of Dragon Quest VII Reimagined with the iconic Dragon Quest soundtrack and redesigned world. The trailer even confirmed a free demo available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam on January 7, 2026. Anyone can download the demo to play through the early game until the completion of Woodpalna. Any saved data from the demo can carry over to the full game, including an exclusive Day Off Dress bonus costume for Maribel.
The game is currently available for pre-order in three editions: Standard Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, and Collector’s Edition. While the Standard Edition includes the base game, the Collector’s Edition is the ultimate version that will provide the physical base game, Ship in the Bottle, Commemorative slime, a unique steelbook, and extra digital content (The Road of Regal Wretches, White Wolf Costume for Ruff, party costumes in Luminary’s Livery, and extra items in Jam-Packed Swag Bag). Anyone who likes to play the game earlier can pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition for 48-hour access to the digital base game and extra digital content.
