Diablo lead Rod Fergusson leaves Blizzard

Diablo boss, Rod Fergusson, has announced his departure from Diablo developer Blizzard and Microsoft as a whole, saying “the teams are set up for success.” Right now, he’s not sure what’s on the horizon for him.

On social media, Fergusson announced he’s leaving Blizzard after five years, saying it’s time to “step away” and to “see what’s next.” He says he’s proud of what he and his team have done and is excited to see what’s next for both the Diablo franchise and him.

Right now, it isn’t clear who’s going to step up as the new head honcho for the Diablo IP. Of note, though, just days before his departure, Blizzard was accused of using AI for its Diablo Immortal x Hearthstone crossover.
