Steamboat Willie-inspired horror, Infestation 88, revealed

New dev around block, Nightmare Forge, has revealed its debut game — Infestation 88. Taking inspiration directly from Steamboat Willie, which has since gone public domain, this upcoming episodic Early Access horror experience aims to blend nostalgia and the chills of horror.

You can wishlist it on Steam ahead of its release sometime this year. The game itself takes place in 1988, following a rodent infestation that evolved from a nuisance to something much more sinister. Take this horror on alone or take up to three friends to deal with the infestation plaguing the area. Basically, you’re exterminators dealing with a mysterious infestation with a disturbing Mickey Mouse lurking about. To combat this, you have to keep an eye on CCTV cameras and manage your power.

Use your wits to decide if it’s time to fight, run, or hide. Nightmare Forge promises an unpredictable AI, randomized item layouts, and more to keep replayability high and top-notch visuals enhanced with NVIDIA DLSS support. It will also have unlockable skins, items, and perks.

This game jumps right off the immense success of other co-op survival horrors in a similar vein like Escape the Backrooms and the immensely popular Lethal Company.
