New animated series Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord announced

A new spin-off series is in the works within Lucasfilm titled Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord. As the name suggests, it’ll fixate on the fan-favorite, Darth Maul.

The animated series was announced during Star Wars Celebration over in Tokyo as part of the Lucasfilm Animation panel. Per IGN, the series will take place after the final season of The Clone Wars. In it, Maul is attempting to “rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire.”

Footage was shown that proved this new series is going to be grittier than other series.

Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord is poised to release on Disney Plus in 2026.
