New Prototype game in the works but there’s a catch

A new rumor has popped up surrounding the long-dead Prototype series left behind in the 2010s. Supposedly, it seems there may be a new entry in the works following a study group session.

Reddit user Bigbyy (via Insider Gaming) made a now-deleted Reddit post to share some details, chiefly that it would be be a sort of return to form, putting a focus on infiltrating areas by shapeshifting, put Alex Mercer back as its protagonist, and will continue its New York-based location.

When reached out to by Insider Gaming, he gave a small bit of info, like how it was supposedly a YouGov survey with an NDA attached. He also very clearly noted that it was not a playtest but rather just a survey about certain planned features in the game.

“[It] was YouGov survey which asked me to sign an NDA and confirm that I would not disclose the contents. It then confirmed a series of features that upcoming games will include and how popular this was with me [percentage wise]. It was not a playtest but did specify that these features were already planned as part of upcoming games.”

Speaking from a logical stance, it’s not impossible for the series to come back, though, it’s highly unlikely due to Prototype 2 failing to meet the marks set by publisher Activision, leading to developer Radical Entertainment becoming just a support studio for Activision projects.
