Genki’s Switch 2 mockup reportedly provoked a visit from Nintedo lawyers at CES 2025

Genki, a video game console accessory manufacturer, reportedly came under fire from Nintendo lawyers after showing a mockup of the Switch 2 at CES 2025.

At their booth at CES 2025, per The Game Post, Genki showed off a mockup of the Switch 2. Said mockup can be viewed in this YouTube short by French Journalist Julien Tellouck. Genki, having a history of producing accessories for the Switch, caught quite a bit of attention with this mockup. Some of that attention even reportedly coming from some of Nintendo’s lawyers. In the same aforementioned short, Tellouck reveals that Genki had already supposedly been approached by Nintendo lawyers at the booth.

Whether or not Genki was actually approached by Nintendo lawyers, Nintendo did end up issuing a statement regarding the situation to CNET Japan. The statement is as follows:

“The gaming hardware that Genki claims to be Nintendo hardware at CES is unofficial and not provided to the company by Nintendo.”

Genki would also end up stating that their mockups were speculation based and not Nintendo official.

Even with the mockup ending up not being Nintendo hardware, it is only fuel to the fire of Switch 2 hype. We look forward to seeing what Nintendo ultimately has in store for the Switch 2!
