Nintendo wants its new Nintendo Switch Online feature to stay under wraps

Nintendo has kicked off a playtest for new Nintendo Switch Online features but wants to keep things under wraps for now, with only around 10K accepted playtesters and forced to sign terms of service (not an NDA) that bar them from talking about it. Of course, no one expects this will remain a secret for long.

On Twitter, OatmealDome, a notable Nintendo dataminer, shared a screenshot of the terms of service that you’re required to sign before you can download the software. While Nintendo likes to keep things under control, it seems to suffer a fair few leaks that sometimes fail to be traced, so we suspect it wouldn’t take long before someone drops a juicy few details about what this test is for.

The playtest will consist of a 2.2GB download and will run from October 24 through November 6. Of course, it’s a mystery what the actual playtest will be, but while we could hope it’s related to the new console set to be revealed this fiscal year, it’s more likely something of a swan song feature for the Switch or something that’s totally not stuck to a specific console generation.

Only time will tell, and as OatmealDome notes, odds are, someone will leak what this was all about in a matter of minutes.
