Fan art inspired new No Man’s Sky update

The new No Man’s Sky update, which introduces fishing to the gameplay loop, was inspired by some fan art. The Aquarius update was introduced following the Worlds update, which improved the water physics.

On the No Man’s Sky blog, Hello Games founder Sean Murray discussed the sudden fishing update, noting that after a few weeks after the Worlds update, the team was inspired by Reddit user catador_de_potos‘ artwork, which stopped the team in its tracks.

The update introduces tons of different fish ranging from normal to wild with different conditions and habitats. Naturally, you can also find messages in bottles and trap rare catches. It even comes bundled with a special expedition that sends players off to get the “the biggest catch of the day.”

The massive success surrounding No Man’s Sky is impressive when looking back at the state of the game when it first released in 2016 after a bunch of issues resolved and largely a new community built, the game has found new life.

Now, Hello Games is dividing time between its space adventure sim and its upcoming game — Light No Fire.
