Original Resident Evil trilogy coming to GOG, RE1 available now

The original Resident Evil trilogy has been a very significant part of the gaming industry even as Capcom begins releasing remakes of the its RE titles. Unfortunately, the originals are being increasingly harder to find, with the OG three being unavailable on Steam, but that’s where GOG comes in.

GOG, operated by CD Projekt, the very same company behind Cyberpunk 2077 developer, CD Projekt Red, has announced on social media that the original Resident Evil game is available on the platform with its two sequels to follow. The original came out nearly three decades ago and while it did release on PC, that’s only on a physical disc, which is of course not being produced anymore in an official capacity.

The three games will be available to purchase separately, but if you know you wanna get all three, you can buy the bundle, which is available now, this nets you access to not just the first game, but pre-purchase Resident Evil 2 and 3. This is also a great deal as GOG is only pricing the bundle for $24.99. To be clear, we aren’t sure when the other games are launching to the platform.

Considering it’s rumored that Capcom is taking a step away from remaking its mainline games, at least for now, in favor of RE Zero and Code Veronica, this trilogy might be just the right thing to tide fans over while we wait for more RE content.
