New Stronghold trademark filed by Firefly Studios

Firefly Studios, the creator of the historical real-time strategy series Stronghold, has filed a new trademark recently pointing to a potential new entry to the series. Last year, we saw Stronghold: Definitive Edition drop and the studio has been focusing on putting out post-launch content since.

Firefly, which was acquired by Devolver Digital in 2021, has been making Stronghold games intermittently since 2001, debuting the studio itself with the series. Respawn First spotted a UK filing that’s currently under “Examination” for Stronghold: The Dark Ages, which likely means that will be where the next entry will take place. This could very well be the Unreal Engine 5 game that was in early production back in 2022, as shared by Game Pressure.

This new game would mark its first since the 2021 acquisition and will truly tell people if the acquisition was for the better.

While Firefly is under Devolver, this push to purchase the studio was mostly to beef up its portfolio as it went into the London Stock Exchange. That is to say, the studio still remains largely able to keep its creative vision intact while also having reaping the benefits of a subsidiary to a well-known publisher.
